12/27/11 Fishing Report

My brother and I hit the ice today for a half day of fishing. Arrived at the lake about 10:30 and things started off pretty slow. Made a few moves and caught a few fish but nothing consistent. Finally made a final move about 2pm that paid off, ended up catching a ton of fish and kept 10 crappies for the 2 of us and 5 gills. Big Crappie of the day was a 12" white and quite a few around 11". Big gill was 9". Crappies we kept were all around 10".

All fish today were caught on fatboys in Pink/White and Blue/White

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Crappie Cakes

20 (10 fish for you none mathematically handicapped) fillets sunnies or crappies
1/2 minced red bell pepper
1/2 minced medium yellow onion
2 table spoons old bay or lowrys season salt
3 cups Panko Bread crumbs (or cracker crumbs)
2 eggs
optional- 1 cup shredded cheese
Dice the fish up and mix all the indredients together, leaving aside 2 cups Panko crumbs (kinda like how you would do with meat loaf). Pat the mix into patties. Coat patties with remaining bred crumbs and fry in oil over med-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side.
